Residents of Sarpeiman, Pobiman, and adjoining communities in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have staged a demonstration to demand the immediate construction of a footbridge to ensure pedestrian safety.
According to the residents, the absence of a footbridge along the main road linking the communities to Amasaman has led to frequent accidents, with several pedestrians — including schoolchildren — reportedly injured while attempting to cross the busy stretch.
The protestors, who carried placards calling for government intervention, accused the authorities of neglecting their plight despite several appeals for a pedestrian crossing or footbridge in the area.
