Schools in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region have been closed indefinitely following the resurgence of violence in the area.

The development has triggered widespread fear among residents, with teachers and students reportedly fleeing the community as tensions escalate. Daily activities have also been severely disrupted as many people abandon their homes.

A teacher, who spoke to Citi News on condition of anonymity, said the situation has brought life in the area to a standstill.

“Schools in Nkwanta have been closed down. Teachers are not reporting to their various schools due to the current situation,” he said.

The renewed tension follows the killing of five people, believed to be linked to the protracted conflict in the area.
