Otto Addo has pointed to Ghana’s struggles in front of goal as the main reason for their difficulties in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Despite solid performances, the Black Stars have failed to win any of their last three matches, putting their qualification hopes at risk. After back-to-back wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR), the team has been unable to carry that momentum into the AFCON qualifiers.
Ghana is currently third in Group F with just two points, trailing leaders Angola (9 points) and Sudan (4 points).
In their last three games, Ghana has scored only once—during a 1-1 draw with Niger—while suffering a 1-0 loss to Angola and drawing 0-0 with Sudan.
Addo praised his players for their effort and commitment but emphasized that their inability to score goals is the missing link. “In the last game, we showed the passion and desire to win, but the only thing missing was putting the ball in the net,” he remarked.
The coach remains hopeful, believing that goals will come with consistency and confidence.
“The players are mentally prepared. Scoring is the only piece missing. Once we start believing in ourselves, the goals will follow,” Addo said.
Ghana faces a crucial match against Sudan in Libya on Tuesday, October 15, as they seek their first win in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
