Security operatives have allegedly brutalized Kumasi Girls SHS students over mid-term break brouhaha

Some security personnel have alleged brutalized final year students of Kumasi Girls Senior High School in the Ashanti Region.

The incident happened after the students were insisting on going home for the mid-term holidays contrary to the order of Ghana Education Service (GES), directing them to stay on campus.

In an interview by GhanaTalksRadio, one of the students said they suspected the school authorities had invited the security personnel to the school to cause panic.

The students raised concerned over how both military and police subjected them to physical attacks.

In a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES), earlier directing all heads of SHS and Technical Schools to allow form three students to go on a mid-term break from Tuesday, July 20, to Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Meanwhile, another statement has been issued by the GES on Monday, July 19, 2021, signed by Deputy Director General, Dr. Kwabena Bempeh, says students should stay on campus to help protect them against Covid-19 or the spread of the disease on various campuses.
