The Sekondi High Court has lifted the injunction that had previously prevented Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, from contesting the upcoming elections.

The ruling, delivered on Monday, November 11, 2024, followed an earlier adjournment where the NDC sought the court’s intervention to lift the injunction and dismiss the disqualification case against Cudjoe.
The case was presided over by His Lordship George K. Gyan-Kontoh.
During the previous session, Edudzie Tamakloe, a lead counsel for Cudjoe, requested that the court consider the substantive disqualification case urgently, expressing concern that any further delay could disenfranchise his client and prevent her from participating in the December 7 parliamentary election.
His Lordship Gyan-Kontoh agreed to review the matter swiftly, urging the parties to explore an out-of-court settlement before the next hearing.
However, negotiations for a settlement outside the court did not succeed, leading to today’s ruling, which lifted the injunction and cleared the way for Cudjoe to continue her candidacy.
In a statement after the ruling, Joana Gyan Cudjoe expressed gratitude, saying, “We thank God for everything that has happened today, especially my new lawyers who came in to rescue me… I thank God and all the NDC members, executives, and all the Western Region NDC. I am very happy.”
With the legal hurdle removed, Cudjoe is now free to focus on her campaign as she seeks to contest for the Amenfi Central seat in the upcoming election.
