Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has hit back at Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, rejecting his comments on the NDC’s stance on democracy.

Asiedu Nketiah’s response follows Afenyo-Markin’s accusation on December 12, 2024, during an interview, that the NDC leadership had intentionally obstructed the re-collation exercise at the Tesano Police Training School.
The Majority Leader also called on the NDC to respect the Electoral Commission (EC) and comply with due process for the re-collation.
However, during a press conference on December 13, 2024, Asiedu Nketiah dismissed Afenyo-Markin’s claims, emphasizing that the NDC had acted within its rights and stating that the Majority Leader was not in a position to criticize the party’s approach to the process.
“I heard Afenyo-Markin, who has rejected the position of a minority leader, is now on his way to becoming a micro-minority leader, bragging that he belongs to a party of the rule of law.
“Who doesn’t know the NPP? We in the National Democratic Congress do not need lectures from Afenyo-Markin about democracy at all.
“Indeed, if there were any need for lectures in impunity, then we will invite him as a lecturer but if it is about democracy, he must shut up,” he stated.
