The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed reports suggesting that the 2025/2026 academic calendar has fully reverted to the single-track system.

In a statement issued on its official Facebook page, the GES stressed that both single-track and double-track schools will continue to operate, as clearly indicated in the academic calendar released last week.
“The 2025/2026 academic year officially begins on Saturday, 18th October 2025, when all first-year students are expected to report to their respective schools,” the statement noted.
Under the approved schedule, the academic year will end on 21st August 2026 for single-track schools, while double-track schools will close later, on 4th September 2026.
Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer of the GES, explained that the clarification was necessary to correct misleading media reports and to ensure that students, parents, and guardians have accurate information ahead of the reopening.
He further urged stakeholders in the education sector to rely on official GES communications for updates on school schedules, adding that the Service remains committed to ensuring smooth implementation of the calendar to avoid disruptions in teaching and learning.
