The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has assured that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will face a fair and transparent trial in connection with the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) scandal if he extradited to Ghana.
He made the statement on Thursday, December 18, 2025, during the government’s Accountability Series.
Ayine emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta faces trial in Ghana without undermining the due process set for a fair prosecution of suspects.
“On behalf of the government and His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, we have taken the necessary steps to bring him home to face trial. If I were him, I would join the next available flight. Under my watch, he will not be treated unfairly; he will go through due process and be prosecuted just like any other person,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Dr Dominic Ayine, has announced that his office has formally transmitted a request for the extradition of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and an alleged accomplice, Ernest Akore, from the United States.
