Tottenham Hotspur secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Thursday, with Heung-Min Son delivering a dramatic winner by scoring directly from a corner in the 87th minute.

The match, played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was full of action from the start, with both teams creating chances.

Tottenham took the lead in the 15th minute, following a clever short free-kick that was worked to Pedro Porro.

Porro’s shot was saved by United’s goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, but Dominic Solanke was quick to pounce on the rebound, volleying it into the near post for a 1-0 lead.

Manchester United came close to equalizing soon after, with Christian Eriksen’s shot blocked by Yves Bissouma, and United’s Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Højlund both missed chances.

Tottenham, however, almost doubled their lead in the 33rd minute when Dejan Kulusevski’s pass to the center nearly resulted in an own goal from Manuel Ugarte.

The second half saw Spurs quickly extend their lead. In the 46th minute, Kulusevski scored from a low cross delivered by James Maddison, with the ball deflected by United’s Lisandro Martínez.

Just moments later, Solanke added another stunning goal. Played in by Djed Spence, Solanke evaded United defenders Martínez and Jonny Evans, before striking a low shot past Bayindir to make it 3-0.

But United weren’t done. In the 62nd minute, substitute Joshua Zirkzee’s shot was saved by Spurs goalkeeper Fraser Forster, but the ball was intercepted by Fernandes, who set up Zirkzee to tap home from close range.

Just a minute later, Amad Diallo blocked a clearance attempt by Forster, and the ball ricocheted into the net, making it 3-2.

United continued to push for an equalizer, with Amad’s powerful shot from 25 yards requiring a strong save from Forster.

However, the game took another dramatic turn in the 87th minute, when Son took a corner for Spurs. His deep curling cross sailed over Bayindir’s attempted punch and into the back of the net, giving Spurs a 4-2 lead.

Not giving up, United pulled one back in stoppage time when Jonny Evans glanced in a header from a corner, bringing the score to 4-3.

The tension was palpable, but Spurs held on in the final minutes to secure the win and a spot in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The match showcased intense drama, with a resilient comeback attempt from Manchester United, but Spurs’ clinical finishing and Son’s unforgettable moment of brilliance ensured they advanced to the next round.
