South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan was arrested on Wednesday following allegations that he used the organization’s funds for personal purposes.

According to local media, Jordaan faces charges related to using SAFA’s resources, including hiring a private security firm and a public relations company without approval from the SAFA board, between 2014 and 2018.
Jordaan, who was instrumental in bringing the 2010 World Cup to South Africa, attempted to block his arrest through a court order on Tuesday, but the Johannesburg High Court is scheduled to hear his submission on Thursday.
Jordaan, along with SAFA’s Chief Financial Officer Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling, is set to appear in court later on Wednesday.
Although neither Jordaan nor SAFA provided a comment, the president has denied any wrongdoing in his court affidavit.
The arrest follows a police raid on the SAFA offices in March, leading to these allegations.
