Sports Ministry plans to open the Borteyman Aquatic Centre for training purposes

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has confirmed that the Borteyman Aquatic Centre will continue to be available for training after the conclusion of Channel One TV’s National Swimming Championship.

The championship, scheduled for July 13 and 14 at the Borteyman Sports Complex, will feature 12 swimming teams and over 200 swimmers across different age groups.

Delphina Quaye, President of the Ghana Swimming Association, announced to Channel One News that the Ministry has agreed to keep the facility open for training.

This decision is expected to benefit coaches, clubs, and the broader swimming community following the championship event.

“Events like this are very important to us because in swimming, you meet a lot of competition to get your target and so having this competition for us, is the best way to go. We are very grateful to Channel One TV for coming back after last year to host a second season for us, we are grateful.”

“The Ministry has agreed since last Thursday that we can use the place for training purposes, GSA will also write to coaches and clubs and inform them about this progress.”

She expressed appreciation to Channel One TV for organizing the competition, highlighting its importance in offering swimmers a platform to compete and achieve their goals.
