
Star Oil Ltd has begun a comprehensive investigation into a tragic road accident involving one of its Bulk Road Vehicles (BRVs) near Asukawkaw in the Oti Region on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
The incident, which occurred in the bustling Asukawkaw market area, claimed the lives of four people and left 14 others with varying degrees of injury. Eyewitnesses reported that the fuel tanker’s driver appeared to lose control while navigating a busy stretch of the road, causing the vehicle to plough into traders and shoppers. The crash triggered panic in the market, with goods and stalls destroyed in the impact.
In an official statement, Star Oil expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured the public that it is committed to establishing the exact cause of the accident.
“The Company has initiated its internal investigative processes and will collaborate fully with the police to determine the cause of the accident,” the statement read.
The company further confirmed it is working with emergency services, local authorities, and community leaders to provide immediate relief and assistance to the injured and the bereaved families.
Management also pledged to review safety and operational procedures for its tanker fleet to prevent future tragedies.
Star Oil extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished all injured victims a swift recovery.
