Augustine Boakye, an attacking midfielder for Saint-Étienne, has shared how former Ghana international Sulley Muntari inspired his football journey.
Boakye, 23, admired Muntari’s dedication, passion, and impressive long-range goals, which influenced his own approach to the game and fostered his ambition to represent Ghana.
Reflecting on his admiration, Boakye said, “Sulley Muntari was my idol because my mom loved him so much.
Watching him, I also fell in love with his style and drive.
He always fought for Ghana and paved the way for younger players like me, even in Europe.”
Boakye, who plays as a number 10 with a focus on assisting his teammates, emphasized his commitment to club success with Saint-Étienne while nurturing dreams of representing Ghana someday.
However, he maintains a relaxed outlook about the national team, focusing on excelling at his club and embracing any future call-up.
