A heavy police presence has been established in Asesewa, within the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region, following a clash between supporters of Joseph Tetteh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, and Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament.

The altercation began when NDC supporters noticed District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment branded and parked at the hotel owned by the NPP Parliamentary Candidate. Several individuals were injured in the clash.
According to sources, the clash erupted when NDC supporters went to the hotel to take pictures of the branded District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment, allegedly intending to expose them.

They were stopped by NPP supporters, leading to a free-for-all fight that resulted in several injuries, including to the NPP constituency chairman.
The Asesewa police, initially responding to the scene, had to call for reinforcements from the regional command, leading to the deployment of the counter-terrorism unit to restore order.

After calm was restored, NPP supporters paraded the equipment through the main streets of Asesewa before taking it to the district assembly.
The NPP Communication Bureau in the constituency condemned the alleged attack on their chairman and called for an immediate investigation into the incident.
Salifu Mohammed, also known as Foreigner, a youth leader of the NPP who is currently being sought by the police for his alleged involvement in the clash, denied any wrongdoing in an interview with Channel One News.
Meanwhile, the MP for the area, Bismarck Tetteh Nyarko, addressed a gathering at Asesewa Zongo during the tour of the party’s general secretary this morning, where he refuted claims that the NPP Parliamentary Candidate personally purchased the DRIP equipment.
