The Supreme Court has scheduled a continuation of hearings for Thursday, October 31, regarding applications by broadcast journalist Richard Dela-Sky and gender activist Dr. Amanda Odoi against the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly known as the anti-gay bill.

Richard Dela-Sky is contesting the constitutionality of the anti-LGBTQ bill, while Dr. Odoi has filed an injunction against the Speaker of Parliament and the Attorney-General, seeking to prevent them from forwarding the passed bill to President Akufo-Addo for assent.

During the last adjourned session, the Speaker’s legal team was instructed to submit their disclosures within seven days after acknowledging that their delay had impeded the progress of the case.

Since July, the case has experienced significant delays, with supporters of the anti-LGBTQ bill criticizing the judiciary and staging demonstrations to express their dissatisfaction and demand a quicker resolution.
