Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president shortly after Harris’s presidential debate against Donald Trump.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday night, the pop star stated she had done her “research” and would be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.

“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote. She described Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader,” adding, “I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

Swift announced her endorsement alongside a photo of herself with a cat and signed it “Childless Cat Lady,” a nod to comments made by JD Vance, Trump’s vice-presidential candidate.

Vance had faced criticism for a 2021 remark calling several prominent Democrats, including Harris, “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”

Swift also praised Harris’s choice of vice-presidential candidate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, highlighting his long-standing advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s reproductive rights.

Swift explained that her decision to publicly share her vote was partly motivated by an AI-generated image falsely depicting her endorsing Trump. She said, “It really conjured up my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” leading her to be transparent about her voting intentions.

Swift joins a list of celebrities endorsing Harris, including John Legend, Olivia Rodrigo, George Clooney, and Spike Lee.

On the other side, Trump has received endorsements from former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan, TV star Amber Rose, and billionaire Elon Musk.
