Telecel Ghana Foundation advanced its mission to improve health and well-being through its flagship Healthfest initiative, hosting a successful health screening event in Techiman on December 19. The event provided essential healthcare services to 447 residents of the Bono East Region.
A dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists conducted screenings for common ailments such as high blood pressure, blood glucose levels, malaria, typhoid, and Hepatitis B.
The screenings revealed critical health issues, including a significant number of cases of high blood pressure and elevated blood glucose, underscoring the need for early detection and health education in the community.

Participants also received counseling on managing health conditions and access to care through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Over 300 residents were enrolled or renewed their NHIS memberships during the event, ensuring continued access to healthcare services.
For beneficiaries like 35-year-old trader Abena Mansah, the initiative was transformative. “I’ve been unwell for months but couldn’t afford a hospital visit.
Today, I discovered I have high blood pressure, and the doctors’ advice has been invaluable. Renewing my NHIS card gives me peace of mind to seek care when needed,” she said.
Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of Foundation, Sustainability, and External Communications at Telecel Ghana, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to empowering communities through accessible healthcare initiatives like Healthfest.
She stated, “Health is the foundation of every thriving community, and at Telecel Ghana Foundation, we believe healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege. Through Healthfest, we’re not only addressing immediate health concerns but also ensuring that communities like Techiman can have access to long-term medical care. Our Healthfest is more than a one-day event. By
combining free health screenings with NHIS enrolment, we ensure that beneficiaries are well equipped to access essential healthcare beyond today.”
The Healthfest initiative reflects Telecel Ghana Foundation’s dedication to improving the health and well-being of underserved communities, aligning with its broader mission of fostering sustainable development in Ghana.
