Staff at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital in Akuapim North Municipality, Eastern Region, plan to hold a peaceful protest on Friday to address the rising number of accidents involving speeding vehicles on the hospital road.

The concerned nurses report that over six fatalities have occurred between May 2023 and October 2024, with most victims being patients visiting the hospital, along with some staff members.
The recent loss of a registered nurse, who was fatally struck by a speeding vehicle after her shift on Wednesday, has intensified their resolve to demand safety measures.
Despite multiple appeals from hospital management to regional road authorities for speed bumps to reduce these risks, no action has been taken.
The nurses aim for their two-hour protest to increase awareness of the need for urgent safety interventions to protect both patients and hospital staff.
“We’re taking to the road this morning from 9:00 AM, with the entire hospital staff joining us,” said Bengalaxy Elorm Attipoe, the protest’s convenor.
“We’ll be there for almost two hours to push for a modernized speed ramp along this stretch. It’s heartbreaking to see our colleague, struggling daily, lose their life to such a preventable accident.”
