The Teachers and Educational Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TEWU-TUC) is set to begin a nationwide strike today, Monday, November 18, in response to the government’s failure to address long-standing concerns about their conditions of service.

TEWU-TUC has voiced frustration over delays in finalizing, signing, and implementing revised conditions of service for workers under the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ghana Library Authority, the Museums and Monuments Board, and public technical and traditional universities.
The union stressed that negotiations for these revisions have been ongoing for years, with no resolution, leaving members dissatisfied.
In response, the National Labour Commission (NLC) has called a meeting with TEWU-TUC and other relevant stakeholders, scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in an attempt to resolve the matter.
