The management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has refuted claims that Vice Chancellor Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong’s appointment has been terminated.

This clarification comes after a previous statement, allegedly from the university council and signed by Prof. Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi, announced the termination of Prof. Boampong’s appointment as Vice Chancellor, effective August 1, 2024.
The statement had claimed that Prof. Boampong’s appointment officially ended on July 31, 2024, and directed him to hand over his office and official effects to the Pro Vice-Chancellor immediately.
However, UCC management clarified that the university council has not met to make such a decision.
Records from the council’s last meeting on July 30, 2024, show that the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment was not discussed.
“Council has not met to discuss or take such a decision and that, as its last meeting on Tuesday 30th July, 2024, records available indicate that matters discussed and decided upon did not include the Vice-Chacellor tenure.
“The university community and the general public are therefore entreated to disregard the publication,” they stated.
