The Ghanaian national football team, the Black Stars, is gearing up for a challenging prelude to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament as they face Namibia in an international friendly at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today, January 8th. Coach Chris Hughton will use this friendly match to evaluate the team’s readiness following intense training sessions in the past few days.

The encounter serves as a crucial test before both teams depart for Ivory Coast, where they aim to compete for the AFCON title. During the four-day camping period, 26 players trained with the Black Stars, but West Ham star Mohammed Kudus has yet to join the squad.

In Group B, Ghana finds itself alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique, while Namibia is set to contend with Tunisia, South Africa, and Mali in Group E. The 2023 AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place from January 13th, 2024, to February 11th, 2024.
