Their father, Togbui Akplormada, was a revered figure in Notsie, where the brothers were born.

Tsala, later known as Okomfo Anokye, left Notsie in his youth and eventually settled in Awukugua, in the Eastern Region.

His spiritual prowess earned him the name Okomfo Notsie or Notsie Priest.

According to historical accounts, Tsala returned to Notsie around 1695 to consult with his brother Tsali before accepting King Osei Tutu’s invitation to help establish the Ashanti Kingdom.
