The Minority caucus in Parliament has indicated plans for a second protest to demand the removal of Dr. Ernest Addison, Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), along with his two deputies.

Sources within the caucus cite concerns over the governor’s oversight of what they describe as significant financial mismanagement at the Central Bank, emphasizing the need for more competent leadership.
Previously, members of the caucus staged a protest on October 3, 2023, following BoG’s reported GH¢60.81 billion loss in the 2022 fiscal year and allocation of over $250 million for a new headquarters.
The protest route included Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Adabraka, Ridge Roundabout, National Theatre Traffic Light, High Court Complex Traffic Light, Attah Mills Highway, and Independence Square, where they submitted a petition.
Despite the initial protest’s outcome, processes have been ongoing to plan a follow-up, delayed for nearly a year.
Bawku Central Member of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has since filed an RTI request seeking details on the combined losses reported by BoG in 2022 and 2023, as well as information on expenditures related to the new BoG headquarters and clinic.
According to sources, Ayariga will lead the upcoming protest, having secured necessary authorization and clearance from the police.
