The NPP National Council Approves Opoku Prempeh as Bawumia’s Running Mate

The National Council of the New Patriotic Party has officially endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Energy, as his running mate for the upcoming elections.

This endorsement was made on Thursday, July 4, following prior consultations with the National Executive Council and the National Steering Committee of the party.

Speaking after the NEC meeting, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong highlighted that Bawumia’s choice of Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, strategically aims to consolidate support within the party and across the nation, particularly in the Ashanti region.

“I am happy to report that the national council of the party unanimously endorses the presidential’ s nomination of Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Menhyia South and energy minister, as the vice presidential of the New Patriotic Party pursuant to our constitution, Article 13(3).

“This significant milestone marks the completion of the party’s presidential ticket for the 2024 general elections and therefore sets the stage for the party to fully engage the Ghanaian electorate comprehensively with our message of transformation,” he stated.
