Medeama SC ushered in a new era in Tarkwa with a thrilling victory over Asante Kotoko at the newly inaugurated TnA Stadium.

The match, which was the first ever held at the $13 million facility, saw Medeama achieve a memorable win, sparking excitement among the home fans.

The stadium was filled with enthusiastic spectators and notable figures, including Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku.

Kotoko started strongly, almost taking an early lead in the third minute when Albert Amoah’s cross was intercepted by Michael Enu.

Medeama thought they had scored in the 16th minute when Diawisie Taylor netted, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Four minutes later, Nana Kofi Babil capitalized on Enu’s header to give the home team the lead.

Medeama had a chance to extend their lead in the 31st minute with a penalty, but Taylor’s shot was saved, keeping the score close. Kotoko made a comeback in the second half, and their efforts paid off in the 64th minute when substitute Bernard Somuah scored a well-executed team goal to equalize the match.

As the match approached its final moments, it looked like a draw was imminent, but Medeama had a late twist in store.

In the 89th minute, substitute Prosper Boakye scored from a free kick, securing the winning goal and sending the Tarkwa fans into celebration.

This victory marks a perfect debut for Medeama at their new TnA Stadium, while Kotoko will need to regroup before the new league season begins on September 6.

With its modern facilities, the TnA Stadium is poised to become a stronghold for Medeama in the Ghana Premier League.
