Samed Shakul is a Ghanaian Olympic Games boxer in the Preliminaries Round of 16. He is to take part in the Men’s Light Heavy (75-81kg).

He is scheduled to fight Malkan Bayram on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Biography

He is a 22-year-old Ghanaian-born boxer who was born on March 17,1999. He lives in Accra, Ghana. His information highlights that he has took part in the African Games Light Heavy Event at Rabat, Morocco in 2019.

He speaks English very fluently.

His club name is Wisdom Boxing Gym, located in Ghana.

His coach is Ofori Asare, who is also a Ghanaian.

His older brothers, Bastie Samir and Issah Samir both represented Ghana in boxing at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. His father Issah was an amateur boxer.

His eventual career in boxing is said to have been heavily influenced by his coach, father and brothers.

Samed’s aims to win gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. 

His was named the 2019 “Ghana Amateur Boxer of the Year” by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana [SWAG]. 

Olympic Dreams

He secured a spot for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo through the IOC Boxing Task Force [BTF] rannking.

In his words; “I am promising Ghanaians that I will achieve what my brothers could not. They are both Olympians and also African medalists and I am following their footsteps. They always motivated me with what they achieved at international level. They couldn’t win medals at the Olympics so I am promising Ghanaians that I will bring back a gold medal.”

He has won Gold Event Medal, Silver Event Medal and Bronze Event Medal.
