Brentford striker Ivan Toney has completed a transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.

The Bees accepted a bid of around £40 million for the 28-year-old earlier on Friday, with the move officially confirmed in the early hours of Saturday.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Ivan over the last four years,” said Brentford manager Thomas Frank. “He has averaged more than a goal every two games, which is an incredible feat.”

Frank continued, “On the pitch, he has been an outstanding goalscorer, a great link-up player, and a true leader.

He has driven the team, the squad, and himself forward. Ivan leaves as a Brentford legend.”

Toney was part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad at Euro 2024, making three substitute appearances, including in the final against Spain.

He also scored a memorable penalty in the shootout victory over Switzerland, keeping his eyes on the goalkeeper as he calmly converted.

Toney netted 20 goals in the 2022-23 Premier League season and scored four times in his first five matches last season after returning from an eight-month suspension for breaching FA betting rules.

He was omitted from interim England manager Lee Carsley’s squad for September’s Nations League games, and he currently has six caps and one goal for the national team.
