A delegation from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, led by Sector Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has joined the nation in mourning the victims of the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash in Adansi, which claimed the lives of senior government officials and military officers.

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the delegation visited the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to express their condolences and offer support to management and staff.

At MESTI and NADMO, Minister Ofosu-Adjare expressed her deep shock at the incident, describing it as a devastating national loss. She signed the book of condolences in honour of the departed and pledged her Ministry’s solidarity with the bereaved institutions.

Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, recounted the events surrounding the crash and listed those on board, cautioning the media and public against spreading unverified information. He stressed the importance of respecting the grief of the victims’ families and preserving the dignity of the deceased.

NADMO’s Director-General, Major Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon (Rtd.), expressed gratitude for the visit, saying it brought comfort as preparations continue for the state funeral, scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square in Accra. A Guard of Honour was mounted for the Minister, who also laid a wreath in remembrance of the fallen.

At MESTI, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Noah Tumfo, conveyed sorrow over the loss of the Minister for Environment and the other victims, describing it as a tragedy for both MESTI and the trade sector.

“The pain is one that will linger for a while. We are here to commiserate with you on behalf of our Minister. It is a national loss,” Tumfo said.

Responding, MESTI’s Chief Director, Madam Sweibatu Adams, thanked the Trade Ministry for their show of solidarity.
“It has not been easy, but your support and prayers have kept us going. The more people come, the more we feel consoled,” she noted.
