In the Ashanti region, the Asante Akyem Akutuase Traditional Council has taken action against the father of a young man whose body was mishandled in a viral video.
The father has been fined and ordered to perform certain rituals to appease the gods and prevent calamity in the community.

According to Nana Kofi Bediako, the area chief, the father must bring a sheep and GHC500 as a fine for burying his son in Akutuase instead of his wife’s hometown, as dictated by tradition and custom.
Additionally, the father must purify the Brosambour stone with a sheep, schnapps, and GHC1,000 during the ‘Awukude3’ ceremony on July 17, 2024.
The person who recorded and shared the video, Nana Kofi, has also been fined GHC500 and must perform similar purification rituals.
The chief emphasized that these rituals are crucial to prevent severe consequences for the community and to purify the town.
Tragically, three of the individuals who carried the corpse have since passed away, revealed Nana Kofi Bediako.
To complete the rituals, Kofi must bring two sheep, GHC5,000, and four bottles of schnapps.
