Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, has promised that if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia becomes president, the views of traditional leaders will be prioritized before any mining activities begin.

This commitment aims to safeguard the livelihoods of local communities.

Dr. Prempeh made this promise during his visit to the Denkyira Traditional Council in Dunkwa On-Offin, Central Region, in response to concerns from Denkyirahemaa Nana Ama Ayensuwa Saara III.

He emphasized that chiefs will play a key role in land use decisions and that local people should have fair access to opportunities related to mining activities.

He also assured that under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, the misuse of state power to harm local communities would be addressed.

Dr. Prempeh pledged to complete ongoing road projects in the area and remain optimistic about finishing pending projects.

Denkyirahemaa Nana Ama Ayensuwa Saara III expressed her support for Dr. Prempeh, praising him for his connections with her family and offering prayers for his success and that of Dr. Bawumia in advancing Ghana’s development.
