Team captain Andre Ayew, Mubarak Wakaso, Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Gideon Mensah, Fatawu Issahaku, and many others have joined Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Salisu, and Patrick Kpozo in paying heartfelt tributes to the departed coach.

Romeo Ricky Roy, who served as the Black Stars’ fitness coach and personal trainer to several team members, was first appointed to the support staff in 2021 during Milovan Rajevac’s second tenure as head coach.

His tenure included participation as the team’s trainer at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the subsequent Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.

Players have expressed shock and sadness at the news, with some offering prayers for Roy’s peaceful repose and others extending sympathies to his grieving family.

Roy’s impact on the team and individual players was evident in the outpouring of tributes, with some players acknowledging his role in their personal development.

Notably, he trained players like Baba Rahman and Edmund Addo, among others, during his time as a personal trainer.

Roy’s legacy also extended to his work with Division One League club, Vision FC, where he was part of the coaching team.

His contributions to Ghanaian football will be deeply missed, and his memory will be honored by the football community.
