U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has made two significant appointments ahead of his anticipated return to the White House in January 2025.
These selections reflect his ongoing commitment to border security and international diplomacy, key pillars of his political platform.
Tom Homan, 62, has been appointed as Trump’s “border tsar,” a newly created position that will see him oversee all aspects of U.S. border security, including both the Southern and Northern borders, as well as maritime and aviation security.
Homan, a former law enforcement officer, served as the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under Trump’s first term.
Known for his hardline stance on immigration enforcement, Homan has been a vocal advocate for deporting illegal immigrants and has supported policies such as the separation of migrant children from their families to deter illegal crossings.
He also has been outspoken against sanctuary cities and has called for criminal charges against politicians who support such policies. As the newly appointed Border Tsar, Homan will play a central role in executing Trump’s immigration policies, including the deportation of illegal aliens.
In his announcement on Truth Social, Trump praised Homan’s past work, stating, “Tom Homan will be in charge of our Nation’s Borders, including but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security.”
Trump also emphasized that Homan would lead efforts to deport illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin, describing him as someone who would deliver on long-awaited border reforms.
Elise Stefanik, 40, a Republican Congresswoman from New York, has been appointed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
Stefanik, who made history in 2014 as the youngest woman ever elected to Congress at the age of 30, will now take on a key role in representing the U.S. in the global arena.
Initially seen as a moderate, Stefanik became one of Trump’s staunchest allies in Congress, offering vocal support for his policies, especially on issues like national security and foreign relations.
As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, Stefanik was active in defending Trump during impeachment proceedings and has since gained recognition as a prominent figure within the Republican Party.
