A tragic accident on Saturday near Omama Shop in East Legon claimed the lives of two unidentified individuals after a speeding Jaguar collided with an Acura and crashed into an electric pole, sparking a deadly fire.

According to a video shared by the Ghana National Fire Service on Facebook, the accident occurred when a white Jaguar, speeding well above the residential limit, lost control while attempting to navigate a curve.

The Jaguar slammed into a black Acura, propelling both vehicles off the road and into an electric pole. The impact caused live electrical wires to fall onto the cars, igniting a fire that quickly consumed both vehicles.

The two women inside the Acura were tragically killed in the blaze. Firefighters struggled to control the flames and recover the victims, whose bodies were burned beyond recognition by the time the fire was extinguished.

A witness described the scene, saying, “It happened so quickly. The Jaguar was speeding, and there was a loud crash. The fire started immediately after the electric pole fell, and the flames were too intense for anyone to help.”

Two other individuals, including the Jaguar’s driver, were taken to a nearby hospital. The Ghana National Fire Service confirmed the tragic accident to Adom News, with Assistant Division Officer (ADO) Alex King Nartey revealing that overspeeding was the likely cause. He also confirmed that the fallen electrical cables from the crash sparked the deadly fire.
