England have advanced to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 following a remarkable comeback led by the exceptional performances of Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane against Slovakia on Sunday.

Despite the high expectations and a significant lineup change, with Kobbie Mainoo replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield, Southgate’s team initially found it challenging to make an impact.

Slovakia opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a well-executed team goal. Ivan Schranz, set up by David Strelec, fired a superb shot into the bottom left corner.

The Three Lions pressed relentlessly, creating several chances. Phil Foden thought he had equalized in the 50th minute, finishing a pass from Kieran Trippier, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

The equalizer finally came in injury time when Jude Bellingham executed a perfect scissor kick in the box, leveling the score.

In the first minute of extra time, Harry Kane put England ahead with a header from inside the six-yard box, thanks to a precise assist from Ivan Toney.

The comeback seemed improbable moments earlier, but they turned it around in dramatic fashion.

England’s remarkable comeback propels them to the quarter-finals, where they will face Switzerland in Düsseldorf on Saturday.
