The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced a major update regarding the UK’s visa policies, following a communication from the British High Commission.

Beginning January 1, 2025, the UK will implement a new Electronic Visa (E-Visa) system, effectively phasing out all existing physical visa documentation.
This change means that physical visas in passports, along with Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRC), will no longer be valid after December 31, 2024.
Key Details to Note:
- E-Visa Requirement: Individuals planning to stay in the UK for more than six months starting January 1, 2025, will need to apply for an E-Visa. This new electronic system is designed to improve efficiency and security in the visa application process.
- BRP Expiry: Current holders of Biometric Residence Permits must transition to E-Visas, as all BRP cards will become invalid after December 31, 2024, regardless of their original validity period.
- Holiday Travel Advisory: The Ministry advises travelers planning to leave the UK during the Christmas season to ensure they obtain their E-Visas before the year ends to avoid complications upon re-entering the country.
The Ministry encourages all individuals affected by these changes to take the necessary steps to comply with the new regulations.
