UniMAC has announced four new significant appointments

The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has announced four key executive appointments, effective Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Among the notable appointments is Prof. Winston Kwame Abroampa, who has been named Pro Vice-Chancellor.

Additionally, Prof. Christiana Hammond will serve as Rector of the Institute of Journalism (IJ), while Prof. (Mrs.) Cecilia Addei takes on the role of Rector of the Institute of Languages (IL). Prof. Samuel Manasseh Yirenkyi has been appointed as Rector of the Institute of Film and Television (IFT).

In discussing these developments, UniMAC’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, emphasized the significance of these appointments for the university’s future.

“The selection of these accomplished professionals aligns perfectly with UniMAC’s strategic vision to become a leading institution in media, arts, and communication education throughout Africa,” he stated.

“With their leadership, we are confident that the university will continue to excel, providing innovative education and making meaningful contributions to society.”

Prof. Mensah also highlighted the importance of these appointments in fostering gender parity and inclusivity within the university’s leadership.

“These appointments demonstrate our commitment to gender equality, academic excellence, and inclusive leadership,” he added.

The new leadership team is expected to drive UniMAC’s mission of providing quality education and equipping students with the necessary skills to succeed in the dynamic media and arts industry.

Prof. Hammond, the new Rector of the Institute of Journalism, remarked, “It is an exciting time for UniMAC, and I look forward to contributing to the development of a new generation of journalists and media professionals.”
