The Presidency has opened a call for public tributes to honor the eight individuals who tragically died in the military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025. These tributes will be included in the official state funeral brochure, serving as a collective acknowledgment of the victims’ service and sacrifice to the nation.

The Funeral Planning Committee, in a statement issued Monday, August 11, encouraged individuals, institutions, and organizations to submit their messages of condolence and heartfelt tributes via email to tributes@prestelencv.RovRh. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 noon GMT.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, who signed the statement, emphasized that “The courage, dedication, and spirit of our fallen compatriots should inspire us all to strive for a stronger, more united, and prosperous Ghana.”
A state funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square in Accra, commencing at 8:00 a.m. The event is expected to draw a large attendance of Ghanaians wishing to pay their final respects.
Meanwhile, two of the victims, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, were laid to rest on Sunday, August 10. Their burials followed the electronic receipt of forensic reports from South Africa, confirming their identities among the severely burnt crash victims.
In accordance with Islamic tradition, Janazah prayers for Dr. Murtala and Alhaji Muniru were conducted at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, before their interment at the Military Cemetery near Burma Camp.
