Dr. Saanbaye Basilide Kangbere, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at his Accra residence, aged 76.
His demise marks a significant loss for the party, which he served diligently as Upper West Regional Chairman.
Tanko Dauda Daniel, the Upper West Regional Secretary, confirmed the news, while awaiting formal notification from the family.
Dr. Kangberee’s health had been a concern due to renal issues.
Adul-Rahman Aziz, the First Vice Chairman, is set to assume the chairmanship role.
In 2022, Dr. Kangberee emerged victorious in a closely contested election, garnering 130 votes against Alhaji Mahama Toyina’s 112 votes, out of 242 valid votes.
His re-election was a testament to his dedication and leadership.
