Urban sports festival scheduled for January 25 in Accra

The Urban Sports Festival 2025 is set for Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Ghud Park in Accra. The event will highlight the exceptional talent and vibrant spirit of Ghana’s urban sports and cultural community, featuring exciting competitions in 3×3 Basketball, Breaking, and Skateboarding.

Designed to offer a regulated platform for urban sports athletes to showcase their skills, the festival aims to elevate Ghanaian youth from the streets to the global stage by fostering competition, community, and creativity under professional standards.

Attendees can look forward to thrilling contests, live performances by renowned Ghanaian artists, cultural displays, and interactive workshops suitable for all ages.

The festival is supported by the French Embassy in Ghana, whose vital contribution has made the event possible. It is organized by DUNK, a Ghanaian NGO dedicated to empowering communities through sport and education, reinforcing a shared commitment to youth empowerment and the advancement of urban sports in Ghana.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mohammed Tahir, Co-Founder of DUNK Grassroots, expressed the organizers’ vision: “Urban sports like basketball, skateboarding, and breaking are more than just activities; they’re expressions of identity, resilience, and creativity. This festival is about giving these athletes a stage to compete, grow, and dream big.”
