Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey has been slapped with two additional charges of rape in the United Kingdom, the British Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
The Ghanaian international had already been charged with five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault in August 2025, to which he has pleaded not guilty.Ghana tourism packages
The new allegations, reported by Diario AS, stem from a separate complaint filed in 2020 and involve a third alleged victim.
Partey is expected to appear in a London court on Friday, March 13, to enter his plea for the new charges.
He remains out on bail from the initial case, which involves two victims and is ongoing.
Thomas Partey, 32, left London on a free transfer after his legal case became public, joining Villarreal on a two-year contract last summer.
Despite some fan backlash, the Spanish club defended its decision, emphasising the presumption of innocence.
On that matter, Villarreal is yet to comment on the latest development.
Off the pitch, Partey has struggled to make an impact since returning to Spain.
The former Arsenal midfielder has made 21 appearances for Villarreal, totaling 1,068 minutes, but has only started 12 matches and completed three full games.
Following a 3-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, manager Marcelino Garcia Toral said it has been “very difficult to play” at Partey’s pace.
The combination of legal challenges and form struggles has cast a shadow over Partey’s career at Villarreal and affected the club’s international reputation.
