The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to vote for him in this year’s general elections to become president.

He stated that he has bold solutions to address Ghana’s economic challenges and is asking Ghanaians for their votes. In a post on his X page after visiting the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa area on Sunday, September 22, he expressed gratitude to the chiefs, leaders, and residents of Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, Ajumako Enyan Essiam, and Ekumfi constituencies for their warm welcome.
He urged everyone to work together to ensure that on December 7, they choose a leader with bold solutions for Ghana’s challenges, declaring, “It is possible!”
Dr. Bawumia previously announced what he describes as a bold solution to the longstanding issues surrounding premix fuel for fisherfolks.
Speaking at Saltpond in the Mfantseman constituency during his campaign tour of the Central Region, he acknowledged the challenges that persist despite previous efforts, such as the installation of automated dispensing machines at various landing beaches.
He proposed a new solution: introducing solar-powered outboard motors. He emphasized that this initiative will provide a permanent resolution to the problems associated with premix fuel.

“When we came into office, we implemented premix automation, but we still face issues,” Dr. Bawumia stated. “I have been thinking and discussing how to solve this problem permanently.”
He called for a shift from reliance on premix fuel to solar power, stating, “By the end of this year, we will pilot solar-powered outboard motors.”
These motors will allow fishermen to operate without needing to purchase premix fuel, as their batteries will recharge while they fish. He noted that the pilot program is set to start next month, with plans for meetings with fishermen to explain the new system.
Dr. Bawumia concluded, “We will eliminate the fraud associated with premix fuel and provide fisherfolks with solar-powered outboard motors, effectively solving the problem.”
Dr. Bawumia’s announcement received enthusiastic cheers from the crowd, which included members of the fishing community from Saltpond and nearby villages.
