The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, issued a firm warning ahead of the party’s nationwide protest on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

He emphasized that the NDC would not tolerate any disruptive behavior during the demonstration.

Gbande cautioned that anyone attempting to cause trouble during the peaceful protest would be dealt with by the party’s internal security.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on September 16, he reassured that the demonstration, aimed at pressuring the Electoral Commission (EC) to audit the voters register, would be conducted lawfully.

“We will walk as slowly as possible to the Electoral Commission peacefully… We are aware that some individuals from the NPP plan to infiltrate our ranks wearing NDC T-shirts to stir trouble and tarnish our reputation.

“We won’t rely on the police to handle such acts. We’ll deploy our security personnel to deal with any threats appropriately if they arise.

“The NDC and the people of Ghana intend to hold a peaceful protest that clearly expresses our demand for a cleanup or audit of the voters register. If anyone attempts to create disorder, we will use the necessary force to prevent any damage to our cause,” he said.

The NDC’s demonstration is set to take place across all 16 regional capitals, with party representatives delivering petitions at the EC’s regional offices and the headquarters in Accra.
