1) First batch of Ghanaian students arrive Kotoka

The first batch of Ghanaian students in Ukraine before Russia’s invasion have arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, via Qatar airlines.

The 24 are part of about 460 students who have managed to leave beleaguered Ukraine to neighbouring countries such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.

2) Russia says Meta, Google should be held accountable for ‘inciting war’

Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said a system should be created to hold western tech giants, including Meta Platforms Inc (FB.O) and Alphabet’s (GOOGL.O) Google, responsible for what it called “inciting war”, the Interfax news agency reported.

State communications Roskomnadzor also demanded that foreign internet services stop discriminating against Russian media in Europe.

3) Rockets kill 70 Ukrainian soldiers, huge Russian column approaches Kyiv

More than 70 Ukrainian servicemen were killed by a Russian rocket attack and dozens of civilians have died in “barbaric” shelling, Ukrainian authorities said on Tuesday, as a huge Russian military convoy approached the capital Kyiv.

Staging a push for the capital, Russia has massed a convoy of armoured vehicles, tanks and other military equipment that stretches about 40 miles (64 km), U.S. satellite company Maxar said late on Monday.

4) Adele tops IFPI 2021 album charts with hit comeback record ’30’

British singer Adele has added another accolade to her long list of honours, with her latest record “30” winning the Global Album All Format Chart for 2021, IFPI, the recorded music industry representative body, said on Tuesday.

“30”, which went to no.1 around the world upon its release in November, also topped IFPI’s Global Album Sales Chart and its inaugural IFPI Global Vinyl Album Chart.

5) FIFA, UEFA jointly suspend Russian teams from international football

FIFA and UEFA have suspended Russia’s national teams and clubs from international football until further notice due to the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

“FIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice,” UEFA said in a statement.
