1) Russia says it will open humanitarian corridors to Ukrainian cities on Monday
Russia’s military will hold fire and open humanitarian corridors in several Ukrainian cities on Monday, the Defence Ministry said, after fighting halted weekend evacuation efforts and civilian casualties from Russia’s invasion mounted.
The corridors will opened at 10 a.m. Moscow time (0700 GMT) from the capital Kyiv as well as the cities of Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumy and are being set up at the personal request of French President Emmanuel Macron, the ministry said.
2) [Agenda 111] Bolgatanga East District Hospital takes off – DCE
Mr David Akolgo Amoah, the District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East, Upper East Region, has announced that construction work on a district hospital has begun in earnest at Katanga in the district as part of government’s agenda 111.
The hospital, he said, when completed would be equipped with modern facilities to provide quality healthcare to residents and urged stakeholders in the district to support the project to ensure its completion within schedule.
3) TikTok suspends livestreaming, new uploads in Russia
TikTok, the Chinese-owned video app, said on Sunday it would suspend live-streaming and the uploading of videos to its platform in Russia as it reviews the implications of a new media law signed on Friday by President Vladimir Putin.
“We have no choice but to suspend livestreaming and new content to our video service while we review the safety implications of this law,” the social media company said in a series of Twitter posts. It said in-app messaging would not be affected by the decision.
4) [Box Office] ‘The Batman’ scores $128m, second-biggest pandemic debut
Robert Pattinson’s pitch-black superhero adventure “The Batman” collected a mighty $128.5 million in its box office debut, marking the best opening weekend of 2022 by a landslide.
But what is more impressive: it’s only the second pandemic-era movie to cross the $100 million mark in a single weekend, a feat first achieved by “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which launched last December to a historic $260 million.
5) Khris Middleton nets 44 as Bucks defeat Suns
Khris Middleton scored a season-high 44 points as the Milwaukee Bucks Milwaukee Bucks defeated the visiting Phoenix Suns 132-122 on Sunday afternoon to extend their winning streak to four games.
The three-time All-Star also added eight rebounds and five assists on 16-for-27 shooting to even the two-game season series with the Suns. It was Phoenix’s first loss on the road since Feb. 3. Following their late-game rally against Chicago on Friday night, the Bucks once again peaked late, outscoring the Suns 14-4 over the final 3:32.
