1) More than 25 people dead, others critically injured in gory accident
Over 25 people have reportedly lost their lives in a gory accident on the Bibiani to Sefwi Bekwai road in the Western North region.
The accident which occurred in the early hours of Monday morning happened after a Metro Mass Bus crashed with a Sprinter Benz Bus travelling from Sefwi-Wiawso to Bibiani, reports say
Even though the police are yet to establish full details of the accident, passengers who sustained severe injuries are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
2) Tesla has raised Full Self Driving software price to $12,000 in U.S.
Tesla Inc Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk tweeted on Friday that the electric carmaker will raise the U.S. price of its advanced driver assistant software dubbed “Full Self Driving” to $12,000 on Jan. 17.
The 20% price rise comes less than two years since Tesla raised Full Self-Driving (FSD) prices to $10,000 from $8,000 in 2020.
“Tesla FSD price rising to $12k on Jan 17. Just in the US.” Musk tweeted.
Musk also added that the monthly subscription price will rise when FSD goes to wide release.
3) NYC building space heater malfunction sparks fire that kills 19, including 9 children
Nineteen people were killed, including nine children, and dozens were injured when a fire started by a malfunctioning space heater spread smoke through a low-income building in The Bronx borough of New York City on Sunday, city officials said.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, just over a week into the job, confirmed 19 people had died from the blaze that broke out around 11 a.m. in the imposing 19-floor Twin Parks North West building which provided affordable housing units and was home to a Gambian community.
4) ‘Squid Game’ star O Yeong-su becomes a first-time Golden Globe winner at 77
Squid Game actor, O Yeong-su was among the winners at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, January 9.
At the award, the South Korean actor, who portrayed Oh Il-nam otherwise known as Player 001 in the hit Netflix drama, triumphed in the Best Supporting Actor In A TV Drama category.
He beat Kieran Culkin for Succession, Ted Lasso star Brett Goldestein, and The Morning Show’s Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass to win the award.
5) Tennis Djokovic freed from detention after winning court battle to remain in Australia
World number one Novak Djokovic was released from Australian immigration detention on Monday after winning a court challenge to revive his bid to win a record 21st Grand Slam title at the upcoming Australian Open.
Judge Anthony Kelly ruled the federal government’s decision last week to revoke the tennis star’s visa to enter the country was “unreasonable” and ordered Djokovic be released.
