1) Show full vaccination proof or be vaccinated at the airport – GHS to all international travellers
The COVID-19 protocol for international travellers arriving Ghana, has been reviewed by the country’s health authorities. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Director-General of the service further revealed that other arrival requirements such as the 72-hour negative PCR test required prior to travel; completion of the health declaration form, and the antigen test required to be taken by all persons who arrive in Ghana remain unchanged.
Traveller arriving Ghana will be required to provide evidence of full vaccination. All unvaccinated Ghanaians and residents of Ghana who are currently outside the country and intend to return within 14 days from the midnight of 12th December 2021 are exempted. However, they would be vaccinated on arrival at the airport.
2) 20-year-old man jailed for 15 years over robbery
The Nkawie Circuit Court has sentenced a 20-year-old illegal small-scale miner to 15 years imprisonment for robbery at Betinko, near Nkawie, in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.
Alhassan Sammy was said to have attacked and robbed his victim together with other accomplices who are on the run, of his mobile phones and monies at a footpath between Betinko and Nkrumah-Nkwanta. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on his own plea by the court presided over by Nana Bruce
3) U.S. considers banning key exports to Chinese chipmaker SMIC
U.S. officials are considering discussing a Defense Department proposal this month to close regulatory loopholes that have allowed Chinese chipmaker SMIC to buy critical U.S. technology, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) was added to a U.S. blacklist last year that denies it access to advanced manufacturing equipment from U.S. suppliers due to its alleged ties to China’s military, claims that the company rejects. In the coming months, U.S. officials are also considering adding more Chinese technology companies to the Commerce Department’s entity list and to the Treasury list banning U.S. investment, the Journal added.
4) Omicron fears force PL to order all 20 clubs to re-impose COVID measures
The Premier League have ordered all 20 clubs to re-impose emergency Covid measures after Tottenham were allowed to postpone their clash with Brighton following an outbreak in their squad.
Spurs’ first-team squad has been hit by a Covid outbreak, causing Thursday night’s scheduled Europa Conference League game against Rennes to be postponed. Their Premier League game against Brighton at the Amex on Sunday was also called off. As the pandemic continues to take grip of English football, top-flight officials have sent a memo to all clubs informing them of the decision to revert to emergency measures.
