1) Kanye West in the mud as Kim Kardashian insists no remedy or ‘counseling’ can restore their marriage
Kim Kardashian has again explained why she wants to end her marriage to her estranged husband Kanye West as soon as possible. The 41-year-old reality show star who filed documents to move forward with her divorce and requested to be legally single after she first filed for divorce from the rapper in February, asked to have child custody and also for property matters to be seperated from her marital status.
In the court documents obtained, Kim revealed that her marriage to Kanye West has “irremediably broken down and she no longer desires to be married.” She also said “there are simply no compelling reasons not to grant a motion to bifurcate and terminate marital status in this case.” The mom of four also said “there is no possibility of saving the marriage through counseling or other means.”
2) 3-year-old burnt to death as fire guts 21-bedroom house
A fire Outbreak that occurred at Tikrom in the Ejisu Municipality in the Ashanti region has killed a three-year-old girl, identified as Patience Ohemaa Kwaw. The fire which started around 1:30am on Tuesday, razed down a 21 bedroom house completely.
Stella Oduro, the Assembly Woman for the Tikrom electoral area said the young girl was burnt beyond recognition. She said the cause of the fire is still not known as fire personnel have commenced investigation into it. “I have been shocked by this unfortunate incident. I can say that properties worth millions have been lost through this outbreak. We’ve also lost an innocent girl,” she sadly revealed.
3) Kentucky tornado death toll reaches 74, but only 8 at candle factory
The barrage of tornadoes that tore through six states killed at least 74 people in Kentucky, officials said on Monday, as those fortunate enough to survive unscathed opened their doors to victims whose homes were destroyed, and hundreds of the suddenly homeless took refuge in shelters.
The death toll was likely to rise as 109 people remained missing, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said. But no more dead were expected to come from a destroyed candle factory as a company spokesperson said later that a final accounting showed only eight dead. At one time, dozens were feared buried there beneath the rubble.
4) Nike buys virtual sneaker maker RTFKT as metaverse race continues
Nike Inc said it had bought virtual sneaker company RTFKT for an undisclosed sum, as the sportswear giant looks to quickly expand its footprint in the fast-growing “metaverse”. Last month, Nike became one of the first big brands to enter the shared virtual world that gained prominence after Facebook Inc recently rebranded itself to Meta Platforms Inc.
In such blockchain-based environments, users can buy virtual land and other digital assets such as clothing for avatars in the form of a crypto asset called a non-fungible token (NFT). “This acquisition is another step that accelerates Nike’s digital transformation and allows us to serve athletes and creators at the intersection of sport, creativity, gaming and culture,” Nike Chief Executive Officer John Donahoe said in a statement.
5) Arsenal officially strips Aubameyang of club’s captaincy
Arsenal have stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the club captaincy following a disciplinary breach last week. Aubameyang was left out of the squad for Saturday’s match against Southampton, and Arsenal confirmed their decision to remove the forward as captain on Tuesday.
The club also said Aubameyang will not be available for selection against West Ham on Wednesday. “We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed,” the club said in a statement.
