1) Trump new social platform Truth Social tops downloads on Apple App Store
Donald Trump’s new social media venture, Truth Social, launched late on Sunday in Apple’s App Store, potentially marking the former president’s return to social media after he was banned from several platforms last year.
The app was available shortly before midnight ET and was the top free app available on the App Store early Monday.Truth Social was automatically downloaded to Apple Inc (AAPL.O) devices belonging to users who had pre-ordered the app.
2) Threat to block unregistered SIM cards all lies, it can never happen – Sam George
Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has said persons who fail to re-register their SIM cannot have their cards blocked by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
He said any move to block the unregistered SIM cards will amount to an illegality, for which the government can be sued. “It is hot air, it won’t happen, there is no law backing that,” Sam George said on Monday.
3) Several staff members at Windsor Castle test positive for COVID amid Queen Elizabeth’s Diagnosis
As Queen Elizabeth continues to isolate after testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, it has come to light that there are a number of positive cases surrounding the monarch. Several Royal Household members based at Windsor Castle have also tested positive for coronavirus, PEOPLE understands.
News of the Queen’s diagnosis was announced on Sunday in a short statement from the palace. “Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week. She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines,” the statement said.
4) Justin Bieber tests positive for COVID, reschedules Las Vegas show
Canadian pop star Justin Bieber has postponed some of his US tour dates after testing positive for Covid-19.The Yummy singer opened the Justice World Tour on Friday in San Diego, with wife Hailey Baldwin among the thrilled fans in the audience.
Shortly after, it was announced that his concert in Las Vegas, due to take place on Sunday, would be postponed over a coronavirus outbreak in the team. The 27-year-old musician,according to TMZ, found out that he contracted coronavirus on Saturday – but his rep shared an update on his health and explained that he is feeling okay.
5) Beijing closes curtain on ‘closed loop’ Games; Gold medals, scandal, others
Beijing doused its Olympic flame on Sunday night, closing a Games that will be remembered for the extremes of its anti-COVID-19 measures and outrage over the doping scandal that enveloped 15-year-old Russian skating sensation Kamila Valieva.
Chinese President Xi Jinping was on hand for the snowflake-themed ceremony at the Bird’s Nest stadium, where International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach described the Beijing Games as “truly exceptional” before declaring them closed.
