1) Rapper Cardi B gifts husband, Offset $2m for his birthday
Cardi B went all out for her hubby on Tuesday as she gifted him a bunch of money to celebrate his 30th birthday! Clips posted online by partygoers and fellow celebs show the Migos rapper turning up with his wife and even hitting the dance floor as he rapped some of his hit songs.
To make the night special, Cardi B gifted him a $2 million check, as she noted that he has a lot of business ventures coming up in 2022. After presenting Offset with the amazing gift, the entertainer could be seen smiling for ear-to-ear as he showed it off to the crowd. Before ending, Cardi jokingly said to the mic, “and all my friends don’t ask me for money ‘cause I just gave this n—— two million dollars.”
2) Police on the hunt for two robbers who killed MoMo agent at Konongo
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has said it is on a special targeted intelligence-led manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who shot and killed a mobile money merchant at his residence at Konongo last night, Tuesday, December 21, 2021. The two suspects, according to the Police, trailed the deceased from an ATM to his house in the hours of 21:30 and made away with an unspecified amount of money after shooting him.
Earlier, the Police in Konongo had advised all mobile money merchants to close their businesses early as a measure against targeted armed robbery activities. The Police said in a statement on Wednesday, December 22 that details will be communicated by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in due time.
3) Nigeria has destroyed over 1 million coronavirus doses
One million, sixty-six thousand, two hundred and fourteen (1,066,214) doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were on Wednesday December 22, destroyed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) alongside the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
The destroyed vaccines which got expired in November, are part of the 2,594,100 doses of vaccines received on the 11th and 29th October of 2021. One million, five hundred and twenty-seven thousand, eight hundred and Eighty-six of the vaccines (1,527,886) were said to have been utilised. Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye said the decision to destroy the vaccine followed several testing processes that were conducted. She added that it was necessary to protect Nigerians from being harmed.
4) U.S. launch investigation into 580,000 Tesla vehicles over front tab game feature
U.S auto safety regulators said Wednesday they have opened a formal safety investigation into 580,000 Tesla vehicles sold since 2017 over the automaker’s decision to allow games to be played on the front center touchscreen.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said its preliminary evaluation covers various 2017-2022 Tesla Model 3, S, X, and Y vehicles. This functionality, referred to as “Passenger Play,” “may distract the driver and increase the risk of a crash,” the agency said. NHTSA said it would “evaluate aspects of the feature, including the frequency and use scenarios of Tesla ‘Passenger Play’.” Tesla did not immediately comment.
5) Man City’s Mendy charged with seventh count of rape
Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been charged with an additional count of rape in addition to earlier charges of rape and sexual assault, British media reported on Wednesday. Mendy, 27, has now been accused of eight offences against five women, which includes seven counts of rape.
The charges against Mendy are alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021. The latest charge is related to a new complainant and is alleged to have taken place in July.
