1) 41-year-old cocoa loader electrocuted at Hwibaa

A 41-year-old man has been electrocuted to death at Hwibaa near Wioso in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti.

According to a report, the man identified as Asiedu Christian met his untimely death after he came into contact with a naked wire while loading cocoa beans on a long vehicle on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

2) French adventurer disappears at sea in rowboat attempt to cross Atlantic

French adventurer Jean-Jacques Savin, who set off in a rowboat from Portugal on Jan. 1 to cross the Atlantic solo, has vanished at sea with his boat found overturned and empty near the Azores archipelago, Portugal’s navy said.

The 75-year-old Savin’s support team had said in a Facebook post on Saturday that his body had been found inside the cabin of his sleek, purpose-built boat Audacious, but late on Sunday issued another statement signed by his daughter Manon that the body had not been recovered.

“To date we have no official confirmation from the Portuguese maritime authorities,” she wrote.

3) Texas, Washington, D.C. sue Google over location tracking practices

Texas and the District of Columbia sued Alphabet Inc’s Google on Monday over what he called deceptive location tracking practices that invade users’ privacy.

Two other state attorneys general plan to file lawsuits as well as part of a bipartisan effort to hold Google accountable over privacy, Washington, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine’s office said in a statement.

“Google falsely led consumers to believe that changing their account and device settings would allow customers to protect their privacy and control what personal data the company could access,” Racine said.

“The truth is that contrary to Google’s representations it continues to systematically surveil customers and profit from customer data. Google’s bold misrepresentations are a clear violation of consumers’ privacy.”

4) Kardashian-Jenners clan hit one billion Instagram followers combined

The famous Kardashian-Jenner family have achieved an incredible Instagram milestone by attracting more than one billion followers. 

The popular American TV family, that rose to prominence when they starred in the hit show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, continue their quest for global dominance it has been revealed peak popularity with their combined social media fan base.

They now have more than one billion followers – which is almost one eighth of the population of the entire world, which has an estimated population of 7.9 billion.

5) Benzema’s house robbed during Real Madrid’s match against Elche

The National Police is investigating after the house of  Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, was broken into and robbed while the footballer was participating in the League match against Elche, at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Sunday January 23.

According to reports, the robbery occurred between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the player’s home located in the Madrid municipality of San Sebastián de los Reyes. 

The first police investigations indicate that the thieves jumped the fences from the outer perimeter of the house, from the back, and entered the garden through the pool. While inside the compound,  they broke the blinds and a window with hammers to enter the house.
